๐Ÿงพ How to Set Up a New Customer or Supplier

Creating a customer in Odoo means adding a contact record that will be used for:

  • Quotations & Sales Orders

  • Invoices & Payments

  • Project Assignments

  • Delivery & Storage Locations

  • CRM activities like calls and follow-ups

Odoo uses one shared contact list (called res.partner) for customers, vendors, contacts, and leads โ€” so you just add the right details and flags.

โœ… 1. Navigate to the Contacts App

  3. Choose "Contact" or "Invoice"/"Delivery Address"

  4. Enter their name, email, phone etc.

This is useful for:

  • Sending quotes to specific buyers

  • Managing who receives invoices

  • Setting delivery points or site contacts

๐Ÿ’พ 5. Save the Record

Click Save (top left). The customer is now ready to use in:

  • Quotations

  • Sales Orders

  • Invoices

  • CRM leads/opportunities

  • Projects and tasks

๐Ÿ” 6. Find Your New Customer

You can search for the customer in:

  • Sales > Customers

  • Invoicing > Customers

  • Contacts

Use search bar with filters like:

  • Name

  • Tag

  • Salesperson

  • Archived = False

๐Ÿง  Best Practices

  • ๐Ÿงพ Create the company first, then link individual people (avoid duplicates)

  • ๐Ÿ” Avoid duplicate entries โ€” Odoo will warn you or you can search first before creating

  • ๐Ÿงฎ Set payment terms and tax rules upfront to save time later
